Have you heard?

Have you heard the latest news?

  • Nominations for the Spring 2012 SJDC SNA Board were taken at the meeting on November 14th.  We are still  in need of a volunteer to be our Community Service Chair.  This person coordinates our SNA's participation and support of various community service activities here locally.  Interested? Come to the December 5th meeting (last one for the semester) or contact me, Diane Villanueva, President-Elect at dvillanueva454@students.deltacollege.edu and I'll help you get some information.
  • Did you receive the email regarding the Nursing Success Center has purchased the Nursing Central app for us? Great news! Remember, you need to go to the Nursing Computer Lab first to register with Nursing Central.  Then you will be able to access the program and download it to your mobile device for your use.  If you have any problems, registering or installing the program, Phil LaDuke is the California Sales Rep that is willing to help you.  His contact information:
          Phil LaDuke
         (800) 230-2423 ext 222
          pladuke@unboundmedicine.com

Be sure to take advantage what the Nursing Success Center has purchased for us!! And if you
happy, be sure to email and say "Thank you."
  • Share the SJDC SNA blog site with your classmates.  We are hoping for this to become one means of communication within the different semesters.
  • Remember, you do not need to be a member of SNA in order to attend the meetings.  All nursing students are welcome.  You do need to be a member in order to vote, though.  Membership provides many benefits.  See previous postings for the link to the website to check it out.
Hoping to see more of you at the next meeting, Monday, December 5,2011.

Welcome Letter from Fall 2011 SJDC SNA President Tanya Daniel

On behalf of the Student Nurses’ Association, I would like to congratulate all of you for being accepted into San Joaquin Delta College’s prestigious nursing program. I would like to inform you of the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) chapter on campus. This professional organization offers nursing students opportunities for community involvement, networking, and employment opportunities.
Every month, SNA holds a meeting where speakers are invited and topics discussed, including NCLEX review sessions (the exam you have to take to get your license), transferring opportunities (colleges speak about how to get your BSN, MSN, doctorate degree), potential employers, and much more.
Our meetings are held once a month in Locke 314 on Mondays at 7:30am (breakfast and coffee are provided). Fall semester’s meetings will be: August 22, September 12, October 17, November 14, and December 5.
One of the many benefits of joining SNA is that uniform patches are only $6 each. If you have already purchased your patches, let us know and we will refund you $2 for each patch purchased. Other benefits of SNA can be seen on the following website: http://www.nsna.org/Portals/0/Skins/NSNA/pdf/4x9%20Membership%20Pamphlet.pdf
To join SNA, simply go to https://nsnamembership.org/ and a 2-year membership is only $70. Another option for new members is to pay $35 for 1 year, and $40 for every year thereafter.
Again, congratulations and welcome; We hope to see you soon!
